How do I get a web name (URL)?
A web name is commonly referred to as a “domain name” and is registered on the internet, and the registrations have to be renewed annually. Suite 171 can help you choose a name that is relevant to your business and help you register that name.

What is web hosting?
In order for people to view your website when they type your domain name into their browser, you must put your website on a server. This is called “Hosting” your website. There are many companies that can host your site and prices can vary between hosting companies.

When you decide to use Suite 171, we will meet with you to talk about the objectives of your site. Once we have a clear understanding of your needs, we will give you an estimated finish date.

What do I need to start my website?
The more information you can provide about your business the easier it will be. We will ask for your logo, copy (text), images you would like to use, and some general information about your business.

What is the difference between web design and web maintenance?
In general terms, web design is the creation of a new website, and web maintenance is the upkeep of an existing website. Maintenance is when you change links, text and images. It does not include adding pages and new design elements. Suite 171 can assist you with both design and maintenance of your website.

What if I have a change on my website later?
This falls under the maintenance of a website. Contact us and we will be happy to discuss your web maintenance needs.

Do I need a content management system?
In most cases websites under 20 pages do not need a content management system. It may be best to buy software to edit it, or have us maintain your site. Databases or Content Management Systems don’t always make life easier - often sites utilize them unnecessarily.

How do I update my website?
There are two ways to do this - either you can do it, using web design software, Content Management Software or by hand, or we can do it.

What do you use to create the website?
We will create your site using HTML, XHTML, CSS, Flash, and ASP/PHP. When we develop a site we write all of the code by hand, or use WYSIWIG editors. Hand coding not only helps keep the pages smaller for fast downloading, but also insures that the web page works with all browsers.

Can you create my logo?
Yes, Suite 171 can help you create a logo that fits your company’s needs and represents the nature of your company.
